Writing is a lifelong skill that helps you share your thoughts and ideas with the world. This course will unlock the writer inside you by teaching you the fundamentals for how to harness the power of your words to engage and inform. Learn how your writing can help you take a stand and how to craft a clear and targeted message for any audience.

This week we will review the writing process steps and learn about your first assignment – the personal essay.

This week is all about understanding point of view and practicing drafting a thesis and an outline. These three key writing concepts will help you structure your first assignment.

This week we will look at how to transition from an outline to a draft. You will be drafting your essay and learning how to assess your work by learning from a sample essay and analyzing your own before your hand in your first assignment.

This week you will learn about paragraphing, transitions, voice and tone, and how to avoid plagiarism.

This week you will learn how to incorporate feedback from your draft so you can revise your essay. Also, let’s revisit your mindset and priorities.

This week you will learn how to write your second assignment – the stance essay, switch point of view, and read source material critically.

This week is all about learning how to cite your sources, complete your stance draft and self-assess your draft.

This week you will learn how to analyze your evidence, format your essay and generate a correct SWS sources list.

This week is all about learning how to incorporate feedback from your draft so you can revise your essay. You will also learn about editing.

This week you will learn how to evaluate sources and use internet research for the future.
